A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors ★★★

As goofy as it is, I like the "dream powers" concept, and the broader implication that fantasy can produce a psychic cure, especially when it's shared across a community of support (obviously this resonates with the experience of watching movies like this in a theater).

I find Nightmare 3 a bit busy with all its world-building. I'm not particularly interested in Freddy's personal origins, in part because insisting on the literal, diegetic explanation for why he targets these particular kids detracts from the thematic force of the dreams. To that end, it's frustrating to me that the climactic moment here comes as a result not of the inner strength of the "Dream Warriors," but as a result of a "silver bullet" issuing from the backstory-oriented B plot.
