Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers ★★★½

This is one of the strangest films I’ve ever seen. Never in a million years would I have ever thought I would’ve seen some of this stuff in an actual film. But at the same time, it’s so much fun and so entertaining.

I do think it’s weird though that they chose Chip and Dale as the two characters to lead this film, considering that they aren’t those characters. When I saw the trailer I was appalled to see that they would both be given human voices. But to be honest you get used to it pretty quickly and Andy Samberg and John Mulaney do pretty great voice work. I still think it’s weird to have this film come from Rescue Rangers though. Maybe it’s  just cause I watched the show so much when I was younger? It’s just so odd to me.

But yes like I said, it’s ridiculously entertaining, not once did I switch off. Mainly because it was thrilling to spot all the eater eggs, cameos and references. Which is probably the highlight of the film. Obviously like a modern day Who Framed Roger Rabbit but a bit more gimmicky I guess. Regardless, it’s insane as to how many there are and how almost all of them are hilarious. The creative team deserve all the credit for coming up with funny and interesting ways to react with so many characters.

The story is a cool mystery for kids but it’s also got a lot of stuff for adults as well. To be honest I don’t know who would enjoy this film more. Many adult innuendos. But obviously it’s aimed at kids. It’s very predictable and cliche but I guess that’s the point? I have no idea, all I know is that I had fun and it made me laugh. Animation on pretty much everything is excellent as well.

Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers is perhaps one of the biggest surprises of the year so far. It’s light hearted entertainment that anyone can enjoy that’s visually appealing and so much fun. It’s worth watching for all the cameos, easter eggs and references alone.
