Nathan Jongewaard’s review published on Letterboxd:
I’m on a Jim Cummings streak now—he’s like my new favorite band. I can’t think of the last triple-threat filmmaker who really had the goods like this. They’re a rare breed.
His work can feel “uneven” because he insists on having it all—comedy, horror, genuine drama (this time in a Hollywood satire)—but, as far as I’m concerned, he keeps nearly all of it in balance.
One of the streamers needs to give him a five picture deal with final cut, with a total $50M budget. That’s a bargain—but Cummings clearly rocks a low budget using, you know, cinematic skill to make it look expensive.
I truly cannot wait to see what he does next.
