From what I'd seen I was pretty excited for this one, but while it's stylization is super cool, it doesn't have a whole lot to offer on top of that. Kaufman marathon pt 5
Oh boy. I have thoughts, but my roommate's are funnier. The first ten minutes, he said he hated the movie. Then it was an hour and a half of gasps and realizations until he announced he loved it. It's that kind of movie. Is it Kaufman's best? Quite possibly. It feels so thematically opposed to the cynicism that I remember from Synecdoche New York but also a really clear visual bridge to that film, espeically in how it visualizes the surreal.
