Letterboxd — Your life in film

This was a good follow-up that pulls off its meta-humor surrounding movie sequels really well. The returning cast from the original film deliver as well. I think the villain reveal was a lot more predictable and a bit nonsensical when compared to the first film. Also, the new characters were pretty forgettable. In closing, this is an enjoyable time that doesn’t quite live up to its predecessor.

I finally got around to seeing this classic and it did not disappoint. The Drew Barrymore scene is a masterclass in satire and tension. Trying to uncover the identity of the killer was extremely fun and I was genuinely surprised. Can’t wait to watch the rest!

The cast of basketball players in this movie carry this film on their shoulders. My favorites were Ms. Constantine, Johnny, and Benny. I love that they develop them outside of the court so we can get to know them all better. Unfortunately I wish we spent the same amount of time delving into why Woody Harrelson’s character was such a troubled man before coaching this team. Overall a hidden gem from 2023 that should not be overlooked!

Add a Best Stunt Performance award to the Oscars these people suffer in silence to produce great movies like this! Easily my favorite of the franchise because its the first to balance the emotional depth present in the first movie with the zany action of its sequels.

My mom saw this 13 times as a kid and I am now genuinely concerned for her mental wellbeing. Every character were supposed to root for is either misogynistic, racist, or a victim of sexual assault who will forgive their perpetrators within 30 seconds. This could have at least had a lot of really good dancing, but that only comprises about 10 minutes of the film. Easily among one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

Surprised by the early lukewarm reception this got from critics. I found this to be an improvement over the first film. The fights looked great, the comedy was sharp, and this still had plenty of heart. Other than a cheesy ending and a morally questionable relationship this bodes well for the DCEU (better than most of the recent MCU projects I’ve seen).

In this show sponsored by Dunkin Donuts, Gleeson murders people when hes not peeing for for five minutes straight or listening to Kenny Chesney. This was pretty good although many of the dream sequences were a stretch for me and the ending was a bit lackluster. Some excellent acting and tension from Carrell and Gleeson make this worth checking out if the synopsis sounds interesting.

This jumped between being boring and being bad in the least likable way. Modok was ridiculous in design and his character arc was unwanted and unnecessary. Kang was pretty underwhelming, which hurts to say because I really love Jonathan Majors. This was nothing more than a setup movie which is frustrating when I already don’t have a lot of hope that the MCU will return to its former glory.
