The Funhouse

The Funhouse ★★½

#25 of 31 - CineMonster's HOOPTOBER 4.0

Normally I wouldn't review this film for it left me feeling totally indifferent, I would simply log it and rate it and that would be that! But this viewing was actually part of the Hooptober challenge so I can't wash my hands of it just yet! I didn't love it, nor did I hate it, how do you write anything of any value when the subject matter is about as exciting as milk toast! It did manage to capture the gritty underbelly of the carnival scene but as a horror piece speaking for myself it left much to be desired!

This is the type of film I could easily have on in the background as I check my email, check the waiver wire and submit my lineup for this weeks game for I know if I never saw it in its entirety I'd have no regrets! So lets be frank unless you're a Tobe Hooper completist there is no reason for you to see this film when I know there are far better films out there!

The only good thing I can think of to say about this film is that Tobe Hooper got the directorial gig for the original Poltergeist film due in large part to this very film! Now on that positive note I bid you all adieu!
