Roma ★★★★½

the talent of alfonso cuarón would have made this an excellent film on its own, considering that he is responsible for the semi-autobiographical screenplay and cinematography as well as the direction, but it's yalitza aparicio who makes this film special. she is subtle, she is powerful, she embodies the different sides and difficulties of cleo. the film is slow and requires you to focus, and aparicio's performance pulls you in and makes you unable to look away. she is unbelievably good.
