This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Apparently rock bottom for a famous conductor is a live anime show. Makes sense.

    Loved it

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

It's real cute. I don't know a single person who wouldn't have some fun with this one.

  • Ingrid Goes West

    Ingrid Goes West

Aubrey Plaza kills it and the beginning is interesting but the more the movie went on, the less it worked for me culminating in an ending I really did not like. But the performances here are super memorable.

  • Willow

I don't know what it is but I love Willow. Maybe it's all Val Kilmer and his confounding sword flips. Maybe it's the pure earnest charm of Warwick Davis. Maybe it's the old ladies punching each other. I don't know. But I went back recently and it's just so special.

  • The Northman

    The Northman

Listen. It's interesting. Gorgeous. And some absolutely bonkers performances. But something about the lead just didn't work for me and that kept me from enjoying it as much as many others did.

  • Rosaline

I had a really good time with this one. Kaitlyn Dever is really really funny. And I'm a sucker for old timey setting but contemporary dialogue.

    Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Namor was fantastic. Couldn't have asked for a better version of that character onscreen. Ramonda was obviously also excellent. It was long, which is fine. Probably too much Ross and I didn't find Iron Heart all that necessary but people liked her so I don't know.

  • Don't Worry Darling

    Don't Worry Darling

An absolute masterclass in "overexplaining the mechanics at the expense of the metaphor".

It's a very well shot movie though, so that gets it one star. And it has Kate Berlant, so that gets it a second star.

  • Weird: The Al Yankovic Story

    Weird: The Al Yankovic Story

Everything before Eat it: An okay music biopic parody that would work way better if Walk Hard didn't already exist.

Everything after Eat it: Wonderful. Hilarious. I wish the whole movie was this.

  • Tooth Fairy

    Tooth Fairy

Watching this movie was uncomfortable. Something about the Rock or the sound or the writing really upset me. I can't put my finger on it. As a premise, it almost works but the execution was just so strange.

  • Practical Magic

    Practical Magic

About at nineties as movies get. Sandra Bullock really works. Nicole Kidman is doing a lot.
