The Thing is cinema at its purest. Every shot in a scene builds suspense, every scene adds to the tension.
This was considered a pretty big flop when it was released in 1982, and critics hated it. It makes me wonder what hated movies today will be re-evaluated twenty years from now.
Kurt Russell rocks a Yosemite Sam sized hat throughout most of the movie. This is never explained in any way.
