A classic tale of perseverance amid unquestionably adverse odds. And I dont mean the fact that it has been on my watchlist for about 20 years. I found myself wondering how I would fare in a similar situation to the characters in this movie. "Not well", I concluded. Papillon is an impressive piece of epic filmmaking that is definitely more of a McQueen vehicle than Dustin Hoffman, although Hoffman is pretty solid. I was impressed by McQueen's physical transformations. There's a great gut punch that comes in the final act. Up to which point I was on the fence a little. Fair to say it won me over.
