I think I failed to appreciate, on first viewing, just what a head-fuck Hereditary is - I wrote more in my previous review. I agree with all the positive points I made and now the criticisms seem off-point. Even though it split opinion (I wasn't entirely sold the first time around), it's still remarkable that it managed to become a mainstream hit. The carefully judged tempo, its prolonged meditation on grief, and the performances, not only of Toni Collette but Alex Wolff as well - all contribute one helluva strong horror film.
