That exquisite feeling you get when watching an Almodóvar picture is an experience quite like any other. The films are so simple, yet fueled by it's beauty and lavishness. Couple that with the stories and the words his characters speak and live through. Constantly zagging when you expect the story to zig. Always a journey through lives and lived experiences. He is possibly the greatest - and most underrated - screenwriter of our time. Maybe of all time. His films have the power to traverse universally, regardless of where you come from. Parallel Mothers is yet another film in the man's oeuvre that sits snug amongst some of his finest work. Nothing quite like an Almodóvar feature.
