The Fly
Director David Cronenberg never made a 2 hour film. He's come close, but he's stayed economical his entire career. He plunges you into flesh hell and then dips, never failing to leave you gasping for air. The Fly feels like a big break for a young hot director. By all accounts, Cronenberg was selling out.
Thankfully his idea of selling out is getting as many people to puke in their laps. Adjusting the public to his madcap ideas and extreme body horror. A slickly made crowd pleaser that's top 3 overall best practical effects ever put in a motion picture.
