My reviews are awful, I know.
What an absolute delight this was. Singin' in the Rain is just a magical, joyous film, and is considered as the finest musical ever made, rightfully so I must say. Gene Kelly is at the center of it all but it's both Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor who steal the show for me, giving magnificent and dazzling performances. Also, that Moses Supposes sequence is so goddamn legendary, has to be up there as one of the best sequences I've ever witnessed.
Absolutely overwhelmed by this film. Now I'm gonna be totally honest here, I did not in a million years expect this to be THIS good. Emerald Fennell and Carey Mulligan deserve all of the praise they are getting as what they have created is a bold, provocative, never done before, badass film that its story is not only unique, relevant and powerful, but it's also aesthetically very pleasing. I sure know who and what film I will be rooting for this awards season.
