    Leave Her to Heaven

    ★★★★½

a story of extreme jealousy and narcissism told through beautiful technicolor visuals, a well written script and such a terrific performance by gene tierney. leave her to heaven is a dark yet captivating film in which every aspect is truly absorbing. i think the plot could’ve been handled a little better towards the end, but it doesn’t change the fact that this is a remarkable piece of filmmaking that surely inspired many ones to come. a melodrama that manages to be deeply frightening in many ways

    Pain and Glory

    ★★★★½

childhood, memories, sorrow, joy, love, death, recovery, but mostly art and the way it has the power to reflect pain, but also beauty and glory. almodóvar evokes all of this with such care and heart. there’s something extremely moving in seeing how personal and intimate this film must be to him. pain and glory is a real treasure.
