Light the Fuse… Sartana Is Coming

    ★★★½

Light the Fuse... Sartana Is Coming is a return to form after the slightly lesser 3rd and 4th films.
The plot is slightly convoluted with a few too many characters, but I like the harder-edged tone this film adopts, and it feels the best produced and most stylish. There are some great set-pieces such as the sauna fight, the cave shootout and the ending of course.
Overall it's a great end to the series.

Have a Good Funeral, My Friend… Sartana Will Pay

    ★★½

Have a Good Funeral, My Friend... Sartana Will Pay feels a bit dull and less memorable in comparison to the first three. The return of a Gianni Garko as Sartana is welcome (although his new look is a bit strange), but the plot is a bit boring, and the production feels less lavish. It's still fun, but not as fun as the others.

    Blade of the Immortal

    ★★★★

Blade of the Immortal sees Takashi Miike at his most conventional, and least weird. It's bloody and violent, but my word is it entertaining.
Blade of the Immortal is a hell of a ride.

  • The Tall Guy

    The Tall Guy

    ★★★★½

The Tall Guy is cheerfully good-natured fun, with a hilarious performance by Jeff Goldblum.
The story is a simple one about an American actor living in London, whilst trying to win the heart of a nurse, played by Emma Thompson. Rowan Atkinson rounds out the cast as the egotistical Ron Anderson, although his role is considerably smaller than the other two.
The Tall Guy is an underrated little gem, and the perfect film for a light hearted evening.
