Mirror ★★★★★

Feels unknowable (at least for me) but not alienating. I found myself lured into the slippery dream logic of the film within minutes and was so entranced I hardly moved before the credits started rolling. Feels silly to try and say much else about it but it's really one of the most visually stunning films I've ever seen. The way Tarkovsky plays with slow motion and swapping between color and black and white, not to mention his trademark painterly compositions, makes it so visually engaging that it's hard to imagine being truly bored even if you're not connecting with what's actually happening at all. From the mysterious speech therapy introduction to the genuinely jaw-dropping final scene this is simply perfection from Tarkovsky.
