Gradiva

The first hour or so of this is really interesting, and has some pitch-perfect anxiety-dream footage which is exactly what I want out of low-key unknown European cinema from 1970. Unfortunately its ending is way too pat (and rooted way too much in the Freudian psychology the film takes its title from) and everything is wrapped up in an overexplained fashion and almost literally ends "happily ever after". Which is fine, whatever, but the film loses everything that makes it interesting after it takes its turn into its final turn.
