Daveski’s review published on Letterboxd:
I respect this movie more than I like it. It explores some complicated characters and relationships in a very intelligent and nuanced way, and contains some excellent performances. It’s a Western in setting only - it’s not a deconstruction of the genre, although it does use the sort of typical cowboy character to explore toxic masculinity. I really loved the score too, it often has a Philip Glass vibe.
This isn’t really the kind of film I’m into though, and I can’t say I loved it or would care to watch it again someday. I have no specific criticisms to offer, it’s just not my thing and I was honestly a little bored at times. Still recommended though, it really is a well crafted film and I’m sure many people will love it.
