Leaps and bounds better than its predecessor.
It still falls into many recent blockbuster pitfalls; it’s too long, the tension is dampened by predictability, and Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum’s involvement was obviously cobbled together to scrape up some nostalgia dollars. But it managed to be fun, and at its best it learned to embrace its ridiculousness and run with it; perhaps Jeff Goldblum’s presence rubbed off on Colin Trevorrow.
Weirdly enough, the dinosaurs might have been the worst…
