Lee Curtis’s review published on Letterboxd:
McQueen and Fassbender renew the success from Hunger in their depiction of another gritty, "leave alone" subject matter. Fassbender's performance is sensational as he provides a frighteningly realistic portrayal of a nymphomaniac. However, Carey Mulligan eclipses the lead with breathtaking support epitomized by an unforgettable rendition of New York, New York. The partnership returns with another brilliant film, but like Hunger, its slow pace and tough subject matter will repel some.
