It’s corny as fuck to say, but connecting with a child is life changing and Mike Mills captures that in spectacular fashion.
It’s a special little movie. Gorgeous black and white cinematography. The back and forth between Joaquin Phoenix and Woody Norman is perfect and touching.
That would have been enough to have a good movie but the interviews, which I believe are real, that are sprinkled throughout the movie add some surprising depth to the story.
