Kaluuya's earth-shaking performance is a thing of beauty and he’s not even the best thing to come out of this brutal, shocking and electrifying miracle of incendiary filmmaking. Judas and the Black Messiah is a forceful condemnation of racism and injustice that sadly and infuriatingly resonates today.
Filled with striking and shocking moments that put my jaw on the floor and my blood to boiled, Shaka King crafts something so immaculate and resonant here while accurately using a horrifying, and most importantly, real metaphor of the betrayal of Judas to portray a tragedy.
Who could watch this movie and not be shaking in anger by the end? Wow. Also, I absolutely love that this film, just like The United States vs. Billie Holiday portrayed J. Edgar Hoover for what he was, a racist pig.
