Blanchett is simply otherworldly. MVP Ed Lachman, ditto Carter Burwell.
A top tier masterwork about desire, identity, the pathology of love, and the power of being seen. So voyeuristic it almost plays like a romantic thriller, the characters framed in windows and doorways, either spying or on the cusp of being discovered.
The BRIEF ENCOUNTER homage is the cherry on top.
I hope Todd Haynes is having a lovely socially distanced Christmas.
