Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

I really enjoyed it! It was a really fun theater experience. There were a lot of people and everyone was very excited. Feels like the true return to the MCU even though we had Black Widow. That one just wasn’t nearly as exciting even if I did enjoy it. The action here is great. Definitely better than your typical MCU action. A lot of that is probably due to the fact that the dude that did the cinematography for this did the cinematography for films like The Matrix so yeah it makes a lot of sense why the action is so good. Simu Liu is very charismatic as the title character. He definitely makes for a great Marvel hero and I’m very excited to see where he ends up next in this universe. With the amount of praise and money this is getting I am betting there will be a sequel. Awakafina is hilarious! I don’t really get that Awakafina hate. I’ve always quite enjoyed her. And that was no exception here. I found her really funny. I think the humor in this film works a lot more than expected. Not all of it lands and some of it was poorly placed but I thought for the most it worked. Awakafina was a big reason for that. Liu and Awakafina had great chemistry and I’m glad they didn’t try to have a forced romantic relationship between the two. It’s good that they just had it be a friendship. I don’t like when Hollywood is always trying to force relationships from the two leads. You don’t always need to do it. Tony Leung is awesome as the villain. I thought he did a great job. He had very good development and good motivation. He started out as this evil guy who used the ten rings for evil. Then he met a woman and fell in love and had children. He let go his evil ways but once she died he went back to them. And now he believes she’s alive and will do anything to bring her back. I think that’s all very interesting and Leung is just amazing. The whole cast is great. There is a certain character who returns (won’t say who) and is just absolutely hilarious. For sure a scene stealer. The CGI is really good. It becomes a bit much in the final act. The final act started out strong and then fell a bit once it become CGI overload. There was a weird big dragon they had to fight and it just wasn’t necessary. I don’t think these movies always need the big giant monster in the third act especially not this one. But still I had a great job. There were some moments mainly in the second act where was a bit slow but it was mostly very entertaining. I’m just excited to see what comes next for these characters. We got some teases at the end with the two end credit scenes. It’s certainly not a perfect movie but I had a lot of fun with it. I found it a lot more visually pleasing than most Marvel movies. It was just a fun time. Definitely try to see this in a theater. That will definitely enhance the experience. I am very excited for the next two Marvel films, Eternals and No Way Home. The MCU definitely has its flaws but I enjoy it. I think k it’s a very good franchise. This was a great new chapter to the series. It a was fun, sometimes funny, and action packed movie.
