Another Round is an amazing movie. Just wow. This is easily one of my favorites of the year. It would probably be my 4th closely behind Soul, I’m Thinking of Ending Things, and Minari. Honestly it hasn’t been as bad of a year for film as many make it out to be. I mean it’s obviously lacking as just not as many films have came out but there have been many gems like this. I hope more people watch this. I mean a good amount have been but I feel like not enough. It’s just incredible. I just love the concept to this and it’s perfectly executed. I think they got every possibility they could out of the idea. The idea can work for both a comedy or drama which this film mixes. That’s really a perfect idea. For a lot of it’s runtime it goes in the more comedic approach but in the last let’s say thirty minutes it does start to go in more of a dramatic route. It’s really hilarious in parts and really sad in parts. The ending of it is perfect. It’s both heartwarming and really sad. The film is a lot more entertaining than I thought it would be. Like this is a really enjoyable watch. I think a lot of that comes from the amazing dynamic between the friends. Their chemistry is just insanely good. Mads Mikkelsen is amazing here and I’m pretty sure everyone has been raving about his performance. He just does an amazing job. He’s a really great lead character. I really find it interesting how the alcohol effects his life and his friends that are also doing the experiment lives as well. Their performances are all incredible as well. It’s a really good cast here. This isn’t just a one man show like I thought it would be. It’s made up of multiple amazing performances. This is such a well written film. The idea could’ve fallen flat. It really could’ve. Honestly under the wrong hands this either could’ve turned out way too silly or way too serious. That’s why it is an amazing idea to make this a comedy drama. The direction is also incredible. It’s maybe not as good as the other aspects but it’s still really well made. I can’t really find many problems with this. It moves at a slower pace but is always entertaining. It’s available to rent on Amazon Prime(and probably other places)and I’d definitely say it’s worth your money. I hope this gets multiple Oscar nominations but it definitely won’t. Maybe not any but I think it will be able to get a best foreign feature nomination or whatever there’re calling that category now. That definitely won’t be enough for this but at least it’s something. It’s probably way better of a film about a bunch of professes getting drunk than one would believe. Because trust me, this is incredible. I think this can satisfy most. I’m not sure who it wouldn’t appeal but of course like all films someone is destined not to like it and that’s definitely ok. It’s just a phenomenal movie. It’s everything I wanted it to be and more. I’d highly recommend this. I was thinking of giving it a 4 but I had to give it a 4.5. It’s just that good. Overall Another Round is amazingly well acted movie that is in my top ten of the year.
