While definitely divisive amongst most fans of the franchise, "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" still makes for an exciting adventure that grounds itself into much darker, graphic territory which certainly must be appreciated, even if it can go over the line with some absurdly ridiculous moments at parts. And sure, the storytelling may not be as tight or progressive as its predecessor and some of the supporting characters are a bit irritating (damn you, Willie Scott!), but it is also filled with many wonderfully directed, endlessly entertaining action set pieces that burst with tension and creativity, and thanks to some terrific effects work, gorgeous visuals, and another excellent John Williams score, this is still an incredibly fun installment even if it is arguably the weakest of the original trilogy.
