  as someone who really enjoyed the first one, i was shocked by how shoddy i found this: from its cloying attempts to address the pandemic to its broad characterizations and lame jokes... what a waste! honestly parts of it feel like a super bowl commercial or something made for charity.

  I felt like it didn’t earn its emotional payoffs. The characters felt remote and the movie itself was too concerned with landing its Gags and Big Imaginative Flights of Fancy to add up on a human level. Daniels seem convinced that if they continue channel surfing through the multiverse, the audience won't notice how little meat is on the bone here and early critical raves are proving that a savvy bet.
