Where the Crawdads Sing

Where the Crawdads Sing ★★★½

63/100

Really only have a few things of importance when it comes to my feelings for the film. Firstly, the biggest compliment I can give the film is maybe the world can give every role to Daisy Edgar-Jones because she deserves it and everyone should watch Normal People. Second, Olivia Newman’s direction here is simply solid through and through with nothing else really going on. I think there were a few instances where there might’ve been a good moment to cut a few scenes or add a bit more to them, because the film felt a bit predictable at points; but I think the main moments felt good enough. A side point to that: why is there always a need for the boyfriend who gets dumped to instantly have to start doing *that*. Won’t say in case of spoilers but like that’s such a run-of-the-mill thing that happens and no one wants to read/watch that and frankly it’s not needed. Anyways, Where the Crawdads Sing is a solid film with really great moments showcasing the beauty of nature and definitely the standout of the film outside of Edgar-Jones’ performance.
