Ok wow!! This score is likely to go down because damn this film has flaws. BUT DAMN this film is awesome. It’s hella cheesy, but also not. I think that comes down to Raimi’s style. My friends were laughing at moments that were not supposed to be funny, and I laughed with them. So it felt like a really bad movie you laugh at. But… it’s not bad. In fact, it’s pretty great. We get some really heartfelt, emotional moments. The visuals and action is just so damn cool. And the horror elements were soo goodddd (one guy in the cinema jumped/screamed during a jump-scare and it was very funny). However the writing and pacing turns this film into a little bit of a mess… but there’s so much that compromises. It’s a really interesting film to form an opinion on (at least for me) and I’m really gonna need to chew on it and a rewatch. But for now, some of the best phase 4 content we’ve gotten.
ALSO… damn this movie and The Batman are really pushing for an R rating… really pushing. *that* scene in particular is absolutely brutal.
