It is hard for me to adequately write about this film as my proximity, culturally, to Marilyn Monroe as an actress and a tremendous force in Hollywood is unbound. I have read the novel three times, and though it never gets better, it gets more intriguing as the years go by. I can wholeheartedly say–unless you are curious about its current word of mouth, Ana De Armas' performance (which is remarkable), or have read the novel and been wary–you’re probably better off reading the novel as the details and omitted sections add more agency to Monroe.
