Umpteenth viewing but with director commentary this time. Fincher concentrates a lot on the story, the actor’s performances and liberties taken with the history. Almost seems like the film’s literally perfect composition and execution is only so out of an imperitive for a clean narrative. He talks about needing 58 takes to shoot a simple scene between gyllenhaal and Downey jr because fuck you he doesn’t want to cut just because the camera shakes or an actor flubs his lines, he wants to cut when he wants to cut
