Mockingjack’s review published on Letterboxd:
Very mixed bag here. The biggest draw is of course the charisma and humor behind its two leads. Both Reynolds and Jackson are funny enough to salvage the script, but the real standout is Selma Hayek. She has a very minimal role, but she’s great and easily my favorite part.
The negatives are first of all, shoddy visual effects. Twice I could tell when they used a green screen. Also the performance of Gary Oldman is terrible, he acts as though he’s in a different movie and is really miscast. Also, this falls in the pile of movies that rely way too heavily on action scenes and humor to salvage the story and script. Also, weird song choices and at times some really bad jokes about women. Can we please stop objectifying them in action movies?!?
