Mockingjack’s review published on Letterboxd:
Cathy Yan is definitely one of the best directors to emerge recently. Seeing her skill on display both here and with”Birds of Prey” shows how she can expertly entwine multiple story lines. She really knows how to showcase her characters as well.
A lot about this film is really well crafted from the screenplay, to the lighting, the score and the set design. Honestly my only real complaint is that the American storyline isn’t necessary, and wastes Zazie Beets.
Still, this film is really interesting and brilliantly directed. I had a great time watching it!
