Blaze the Action Junkie’s review published on Letterboxd:
Who knew that a bearded Ethan Hawke slurpin' up a cave-dwelling, nearly-naked Willem Dafoe's 'Vision Mead' out of a bowl on all fours would make for a solid start to a 5-star Viking flick? I think I've been looking for a good Viking flick since The 13th Warrior (1999) which has average scores much lower than this one. That's probably fitting though. This movie is completely bad ass. There are tons of great sequences, some with really long takes. The cinematography is spectacular. The story is simple but riveting. The action is thrilling. It's a great flick that should live up to most expectations. And yes, I'd probably slurp up nearly-naked Dafoe's Vision Mead just as quickly as Hawke did.
