A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors ★★★★★

The first Nightmare on Elm Street I ever saw, and the one I consider the best and my favorite of the franchise. Nightmare 3: Dream Warriors delivers the bloodiest, cheesiest, most action packed Nightmare arguably in the franchise with some of the coolest and most unique kills in the series. Nightmare 2 was absent the help of the mind behind the Nightmare, Wes Craven, who is employed for this chapter as a producer. You can really tell the quality dip in the second, and how the detailed sets and fantastic horror imagery in this one stepped right back up to the standards of the original. Personally I credit Wes Craven's efforts and creativity for the best two chapters of Nightmare that we have - this and the original. While this film certainly has some over-the-top 80's cheese ('In my dreams I'm a dream Wizard!') and some dull stretches, it's mix of fantastic, unique horror creativity and effects that literally are a thing Nightmares are made of really make a perfect 80's horror film. I can't help but to consider this flick one of my all-time 5-star favorites, and likely one of my favorite horror features of all time.
