Instant favourite that I can't believe I've never seen before. Starts off as an old-style Disney animation inspired by classics like Snow White and Cinderella before being sent to a place where there are no happily ever afters -- real-life New York City.
It's delightfully meta, really funny and plays like an exaggerated version of a typical fairytale that is simultaneously embracing and satirizing the usual tropes. Great songs too! I absolutely love Amy Adams and she is joined here by a stacked cast including Patrick Dempsey, Susan Sarandon and Idina Menzel. So yeah this is a much better movie than it had any right to be and despite some dated moments I imagine it's something I will enjoy rewatching many many times.
