Stowaway

Stowaway

My journey with this movie has been profound. That even in itself is an understatement. Stowaway was life changing. This has easily been my most anticipated film of all time. Who would've thought? A small independent project directed by one of YouTube's first icons starring Anna Kendrick, Toni Collette, Daniel Dae Kim and Shamier Anderson.

About a year ago, I was so excited for this film that I decided to make a fan account on Instagram (@stowawaymovie) in hopes to connect with others who were also looking forward to the project's release. It went much further than I ever expected. As an aspiring filmmaker, getting to chat with Joe Penna, director of the film on a regular basis was elevating to say the least. He's an incredible person and has been a huge inspiration. This film got me through so much. It helped me get through some of the darkest moments in my entire life. I wanted to see the movie that badly.

What I thought of Stowaway. It's hard to put into words and pinpoint exactly what made this movie truly special. It was an experience. A profound journey that I'll never forget. Just like the journey I went on with this film in real life. The movie at times made me feel such a heavy sadness. But not a loud sadness. One that was quiet but powerful and gut wrenching. By the time the credits rolled, I was left in utter silence and in deep thought. Go watch the film. Support the cast and crew who helped make such a beautiful film possible.
