A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master ★★★

not great, lacks the atmosphere or emotional earnestness of the first three, but so so SO much better then i was lead to believe. the connective tissue between the freddy bits is probably the worst of the series so far, its all very shallow, and greatly undercuts the last one by being so jumpy to get rid of its great characters. but the freddy bits themselves are honestly S-tier, the movie leans fully and completely into camp and every audacious moment just makes me smile. the effects are delightful, the body horror is great, and tho the movie proper is a bit of a mess alice is endearing to follow, and wouldnt have dragged down the quality of the last movie's cast one bit. swings back and forth between kinda boring and shockingly fun, and the fun bits are good enough for me to lean positive
