"We're not bad people. We just come from a bad place."

Shame is a movie that I picked for this category because even if it loosely fits it, Steve McQueen's (12 Years A Slave) movie has been on my to watch list for a while due to the praise that it's received even if a movie about a sex addict isn't something that I'd normally watch. However, the Scavenger Hunt Challenge is all about watching movies that I wouldn't watch normally (were it not for the Hunt I would have never watched any Mexican Horror movies for example, nor bothered with another Seth Rogen movie), and Shame turned out to be a pretty damn good film, superbly directed by McQueen with some great performances from Fassbender (X-Men: First Class) and Mulligan (Drive), who really sell this character-centric film.

The atmosphere is well created and the pace is also smooth, with an excellent score from Harry Escott, suitably haunting. You could do with far worse films than Shame and in a year of stellar movies such as Drive, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Raid and Take Shelter, it emerges as one of 2011's strongest offerings. Recommended.
