This film is absolutely jaw-dropping in terms of its visual special effects and may be one of the best looking movies of the year as the Wachawoskis deliver a story about Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis), a girl who discovers she is descended from royalty that stretches across the solar system, and so begins a big budget sci-fi epic that although flopped in terms of box office revenue, was something that I liked a fair bit more than everyone else, certainly enjoying this more than Jurassic World at least.

The plot may be fairly run of the mill but the action sequences are pretty fun and Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis both put in decent performances. The only role that I didn't like was Eddie Redmanye's scenery chewing villain (I just don't like Eddie Redmanye in general though), as his performance is easily the worst here. There are some great moments throughout the film and it's incredibly rare that we see original sci-fi space opera on screen nowadays (the only space opera that we do see on screen is Star Wars anyway) so it's great to see some more movies in one of my favourite genres.

The Wachowskis may be divisive directors but for me Jupiter Ascending is an enjoyable, if not perfect experience that didn't deserve as harsh reception from the audience as it did.
