I was never a big fan of the original Top Gun, but I had to see what the buzz was all about with Maverick. I was pleasantly surprised by this adrenaline rush of a film. The story is a bit ridiculous and far-fetched, but it is incredibly entertaining. I actually found parts of the movie to be moving too. Tom Cruise proves once again he is a fantastic actor. The supporting cast is great. Best of all, the action scenes are phenomenal! This movie has to be seen on the big screen. Overall, this is the best summer blockbuster I’ve seen in a long time!

    42. Starring Anna Karina

Jean-Luc Godard directed this chilling and eye-opening thriller which tackles the subject of the Algerian War and France’s involvement in it. Michel Subor stars as a photojournalist named Bruno Forestier who escapes France to avoid being conscripted  and goes to Geneva where a shadow war is going on. There he is coerced by a paramilitary group to kill a prominent Algerian. Meanwhile, he meets a woman (played by Anna Karina) with a mysterious background. The movie tackles the very controversial topic of torture by French paramilitary leaders. It’s a riveting film that is a bit uneven at times.

Another great entry into the Quentin Tarantino canon, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" yet again presents clever storytelling and visually stunning camerawork which Tarantino's fans have come to expect from his movies. Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, veteran Tarantino actors well versed in his style, are great playing a dynamic duo, one a fading Hollywood actor and the other his stunt double. They have to navigate through the ever changing world of Hollywood. The movie contains Tarantino's signature violence,…

Alfonso Cuarón has made the film of his career with his latest masterpiece, Roma. This movie focuses on Cleo, played brilliantly by newcomer Yalitza Aparicio, a young woman of Mixteco descent who works as a nanny for a large, affluent family in the Roma neighborhood of Mexico City in the early 1970s. The movie takes place during a time of personal and political unrest. The trials and tribulations of the…
