    No One Will Save You

    ★★★

A film that really captures the millennial experience of going through so many historical events, and the imminent collapse of the world looming above us, that we’ve become so desensitized to everything. We just dance along to the rhythm of the apocalypse. And I love how the film sticks to a more “traditional” look for the aliens. It makes it 10x more terrifying.

    Monster

    ★★★★

Monster is a shattering play on perspective. It can feel scattered at times but comes together to reveal the contrasting worlds of adults and children, to both somber and joyful effect. Kore-eda’s deft, delicate direction shines and Sakamoto’s score beautifully captures every emotion.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I get what the film was trying to do by bringing together characters of different stereotypes, but I found it so insufferable to watch honestly. And Bender treats Claire like shit the entire movie, talks about how he wants to rape her, sticks his head up her skirt, and at the end she’s like, “I luv u bb kiss kiss.” Get outta here.
