so many movies, so little time.
Watching this with my mom on her birthday and it honestly made me choke up because of the striking similarities that she shared with the main character, Teresa. I remember her telling me stories of when she also worked in Singapore during the 90s, employed as a nanny or “auntie” to the children of wealthy families much like Terry. Seeing this with her made me so emotional because I learned so much from my mother this day.
This film is essentially a love letter towards the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and I appreciate and hold it dearly to my heart now.
Okay not gonna lie, I wasn’t really sure how this show was gonna turn out. Even before its two episode premiere, my expectations for the show itself were very low considering its risqué concept of being a sitcom-esque feature but boy did it surprise me. Each episode gets more intense than the other as we witness Wanda’s gradual ascent leading up to the events of Marvel’s “House of M” storyline. It’s seriously a show that gets you hooked from the moment you’ve watched it.
