Like the characters, this series graduated from elementary to advanced filmmaking with Alfonso Cuaron's direction. It's amazing how much better this gets with an experienced, artistic hand. All of this was gripping, but for the first time I actually cared about Harry Potter. The first two films were a fucking slog to get through. Their direction was pedestrian and the movie's were twice as long as what they should have been. But here, in a sequel just as long, it felt like only an hour had passed by. To see Harry's inner workings and discovery was great. I just wish I hadn't had to watch nearly 6 hours of prior content to get there.
Also, watching Hermoine watch herself punch Malfoy was the greatest moment in this series by far.
