Michael Vazquez’s review published on Letterboxd:
Of the 7 movies i’ve seen so from Pedro Almodóvar, this is the best i’ve seen him make. The story is consistently great, pacing is very sharp though it can be uneven at times but still very sharp nonetheless and Penélope Cruz gives one of the best performances of her career if not her best, I honestly think she gives herself a run for her own money with this and Volver. She’s stupendous in this and rightfully deserving of that Oscar nomination. This was a great movie throughout, it’s a moving look of motherhood.
