Right down the plate more or less.
This movie could benefit from a more narrow focus. Sam Jackson's lunacy/decision to try and take down Kong really only makes sense thanks to Joseph Conrad/Coppola as the film doesn't spend much time on him (or any one person really--why are there so many people?).
I like that John C. Reilly's character just shows up at home after this and watches baseball. As nice as that is though, I would have vastly preferred watching the military's initial reactions to his re-appearance.
