    Moonage Daydream

    I love a survey! Truly I love watching an artist's body of work change over time, I love watching an artist think and then think better and then think worse and then think better-better. So this was largely extremely fun for me, loud and weird and bright (I didn't see it in IMAX but I did see it in a theater and I'm glad I did). Maybe: it leaned too hard on some (admittedly great) sources, maybe: it did great work casting Bowie's work as a series of deliberate, curious choices and then kind of trailed off. But I was never bored.

    A searing indictment on the enduring popularity of midcentury modern design among men who have podcasts! Just kidding, it's neither searing nor an indictment. It's shallow and wrongheaded, genre tourism with nice production design and some very attractive actors. This is not a movie about pleasure in any form, and it's baffling that it would ever be discussed in that way.

    In conclusion, I spent the whole last scene working out this joke, so get ready: Mad Max Fury Flo
