You all know movie magic always blows me away, how could I give less than 5 stars to a Spielberg picture I saw in the theaters? At its worst, this is 3 coming of age movies stacked on top of each other, but Spielberg's a good juggler so you only notice it occasionally. Supporting cast knocks it out of the park, especially Rogan, Judd Hirsch, Julia Butters and Keely Karsten as the sisters and David Lynch as, well, I feel I shouldn't say.
As a movie about making movies, it's one of the best. As a coming of age story, it's pretty great. As a comedy, it's the funniest 2022 movie I've seen so far. So many images that will live forever in my head. Besides Sammy Fabelman being a born filmmaker, we in particular get the idea that he is a born blockbuster director. And the movie is quite clear that blockbusters are art, no question. Our naysayer is only a naysayer because he's so practical minded, when he's in the theater he's blown away by the action and the brash sentimentality as much as anyone else.
