For anyone who likes Doris Day films this is a must see. Part spoof / part homage it is an enjoyable comedy which uses Day’s past films as a direct cookie cutter (including the standard animated opening credits with a whimsical song). It somehow pays tribute to the films of yesteryear but also gives humorous social commentary about the clear chauvinism in such 1950s films. Zellweger and McGregor are good in the leading roles but Sarah Paulson steals every scene. It wears a bit thin towards the end but if you go into this not expecting too much you may be pleasantly surprised.

Remember how Titanic inexplicably won best picture over this far-superior film? This is easily one of the best film noir movies made and more or less made Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce known. I still think Pearce is one of the most under-appreciated actors (check out the range of his acting ability of a film like this versus Prometheus and Priscilla Queen of the Desert). It’s too bad Director Curtis Hanson didn’t try his hand at more hard-boiled period cop…

I have never been a huge fan of M Night’s filmmaking. I found Sixth Sense to be extremely overrated and many times I find his scenarios highly contrived messes with inane dialogue. That being said, I’ve always had an appreciation for Unbreakable since its release. I found the idea almost more fascinating than the film itself. I didn’t see Split in the theater but was pleasantly surprised with it - not only was McAvoy’s all-in performance something to behold but,…
